Damian Lillard’s early career saw collaborations with adidas on player exclusive colorways. One of the first player edition sneakers released to the public was Damian Lillard’s adidas Real Deal. The shoe was made to commemorate Dame’ rookie of the year award win. The unique color combination represents Lillard’s entire basketball life. The red represents his high school. The purple matches his Weber State uniforms, while the black links with his Portland Trail Blazers jersey.
In terms of smaller details, Lillard’s Twitter handle appears on one insole. The number 9800s is printed on the other to showcase his neighborhood blocks. On the upper, Townbiz pays homage to his Oakland roots. A praying hands logo represents Dame’s group of friends he calls his “Fly Guyz”. With 510 being Oakland’s area code, only 510 pairs of this exclusive adidas Real Deal was released to the public.
The Real Deal model was first worn by Antoine Walker in 1997 and features a foam insole, a molded EVA midsole, adiPRENE cushioning, and a non-marking rubber outsole.
