The 2016-17 season for Damian Lillard saw a name change for his signature sneaker line. His footwear that year would no longer be called the “D Lillard 3” but rather the adidas Dame 3. Technology-wise, Lillard’s Dame 3 stayed true to the previous sneaker with Bounce in the midsole and jacquard mesh on the uppers. The polarizing looking sneaker was inspired by milk crates, which Lillard grew up using as a hoop growing up. A design on the outsole is made to mimic that of a milk crate, as well as the postal code for his grandma; 56316.
Lillard did look to improve his quickness this season, which is exemplified by his many takes to the rim. Lillard ended up dropping a career-high 59 points late in the season, which included 26 in the first quarter.
