Carmelo Anthony’s comeback tour saw the 35-year old nail a game-winner in Toronto.
The score was tied 99-99 with 13.6 seconds left. Melo was inbounding and looking for Damian Lillard, who is no stranger to game-winners. The Raptors made sure to double team Dame so Anthony inbounded to Blazers teammate C.J. McCollum in the corner. After a few jab steps, the Portland guard drove to the hoop drawing the attention of Melo’s man, OG Anunoby. McCollum then passed back to Anthony, who faked a three-point shot to shake the closing Anunoby. Carmelo then got to his sweet spot and took the free throw line jumper. The ball hit back iron and in, as the Scotiabank Arena crowd gasped in horror.
The sneakers Carmelo rocked for this moment was the Air Jordan XXXIV. The 34th jumpman sneaker features large Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot to give even more bounce to your step. A cored out pebax plate surrounds these units for lightweight stability. The upper is composed of a lightweight mesh for breathability, with a woven layer adding much needed durability.
Anthony wore the “Eclipse” colorway in black and white, which can be found HERE.
