Leaving Damian Lillard open from any range is an honest mistake. Doing it two plays in a row is the epitome of terrible defense.
The Mavericks Wesley Matthews should have known better, as he played with Dame for years prior to signing with Dallas. On the first play, Dame stared at a winding down shot clock near the mid-court logo. Matthews decided to close out well after the shot, which hit back rim and in. On the following offensive play for the Portland Trail Blazers, Dame had the ball about a foot back from the last three. Wesley basically begged Lillard to take it by backing up. Dame obliged and launched with the same result. All Matthews could do was look down on his way back up the court.
The sneaker Damian wore for this highlight was the adidas D Lillard 2. The jacquard woven upper was more inexpensive than Primeknit, but provided the same soften and durable attributes that Dame needed. This budget-friendly signature shoe boasted Bounce technology to provide a responsive, yet plush feel. Some version replaced Bounce with Boost to ramp up the soft cushioning.
Damian rocked the grey heather “Stay Ready” colorway for this moment, which you can find here.
