On an emotional night commemorating Kobe Bryant’s life, Damian Lillard put on a show that would’ve made the Black Mamba proud.
This was the first game for the Los Angeles Lakers after the helicopter crash that took the lives of Kobe, his daughter GiGi, and 7 others. With LeBron James speaking before the game and multiple tributes, the crowd and teams looked emotionally spent. Lillard figured Kobe would’ve wanted competition though and went to work.
Dame was already on the best stretch of his career, averaging 48.5 points a game in his prior 4 games. In this matchup, Lillard continued his hot shooting from three, nailing 30-footers and four-point plays with ease. The gem highlight for Damian came in the middle of the third. With the game close, Lillard cut through a double team before packing a right-handed jam over JaVale McGee and Danny Green.
Lillard finished with the W and a game-high 48 points (which many pointed out was GiGi’s number 2 multiplied by Kobe’s number 24.)
The sneakers Lillard wore for this game was the adidas Dame 6. This utilizes Lightstrike cushioning, which aims to provide the best combination of step-in comfort and lightweight cushioning on the market.
To mirror the Lakers colors, Lillard wore the adidas Dame 6 ‘Shock Yellow’ for this occasion.
