Giannis Antetokounmpo freakish athleticism was on full display against the New York Knicks.
The Greek Freak had Julius Randle isolated at the top of the key, with his Bucks teammates and defenders spread out. In a flash, Giannis drove right forcing Randle to back up on his heels. Antetokounmpo then spun to his left, before standing in place for a second in the middle of the key. Giannis then jumped up in Randle’s grill, with Julius giving up and helplessly watching Antetokounmpo’s long arms pack a dunk.
The Nike Zoom Freak 1 that Giannis rocked was designed with Giannis’ rangy movements in mind, with multidirectional traction being particularly aggressive at the pinky toe section. The traction extends up in this area with rubber clips, similar to the midsole on the Kyrie signature line. This was done up to aid with Antetokounmpo’s extremely long-striding euro steps, providing control when Giannis goes side to side. Further performance features include two stacked Zoom Air units in the heel for extra bounce when landing.
