Despite the jumper not being there, Giannis Antetokounmpo still finds ways to make shots when it matters.
In this close game against the Miami Heat, the Milwaukee Bucks were down two with three seconds left. Giannis parked at half-court, playing decoy with his lack of shooting ability. The ball was inbounded to teammate Khris Middleton who dribbled into a stepback fadeaway. At this point, the Greek Freak had a full head of steam towards the basket. The jumper was well short but Giannis’ long arms tipped the ball right as the buzzer sounded. Two points, a fist pump, and a teammate celebration later – and the Bucks were heading to overtime.
The Nike Zoom Freak 1 that Giannis rocked was designed with Giannis’ rangy movements in mind, with multidirectional traction being particularly aggressive at the pinky toe section. The traction extends up in this area with rubber clips, similar to the midsole on the Kyrie signature line. This was done up to aid with Antetokounmpo’s extremely long-striding euro steps, providing control when Giannis goes side to side. Further performance features include two stacked Zoom Air units in the heel for extra bounce when landing.
Giannis rocked the “All Bros” Noble Red colorway, which you can find HERE.
