One of the weak points in Giannis Antetokounmpo’s game has been his lack of perimeter shooting. On one night, the Greek Freak proved the doubters wrong.
On his first trey, Giannis received the ball at the top of the three-point line. Due to his relentless attacking, Los Angeles Lakers big Anthony Davis backed off, daring him to shoot. One dribble was all it took before confidently rising up and nailing the jumper. His second three was almost a heat check, making the shot from feet behind the top 3-point line. Swish. By his fourth trey, Giannis just shook his head in the disrespect of the defenders. His career-high fifth three was like Steph Curry, dribbling into the shot over the outstretched arms of Davis. After a Lakers timeout, Giannis made a crown motion opposite LeBron James as if to say “I’m the king now.”
The Nike Zoom Freak 1 that Giannis rocked was designed with Giannis’ rangy movements in mind, with multidirectional traction being particularly aggressive at the pinky toe section. The traction extends up in this area with rubber clips. This was done up to aid with Antetokounmpo’s extremely long-striding euro steps, providing control when Giannis goes side to side. Further performance features include two stacked Zoom Air units in the heel for extra bounce when landing.
