This one is for all the Houston Rockets fans who said James Harden deserved 2019 MVP honors.
On this play, Harden was leading a two-on-one fast break with reigning MVP Giannis not in the frame. Brook Lopez contested the Beard’s layup attempt, giving enough time for Antetokounmpo to stride into the play. Greek Freak swooped in the nick of time, with his hand at the top of the rectangle before the ball could reach the glass. Giannis emphatically swatted Harden’s shot with force as the Beard crumbled to the floor.
The Nike Zoom Freak 1 that Giannis rocked was designed with Giannis’ rangy movements in mind, with multidirectional traction being particularly aggressive at the pinky toe section. The traction extends up in this area with rubber clips, similar to the midsole on the Kyrie signature line. This was done up to aid with Antetokounmpo’s extremely long-striding euro steps, providing control when Giannis goes side to side. Further performance features include two stacked Zoom Air units in the heel for extra bounce when landing.
