Ja Morant showed he was just different amongst the 2019-20 rookies, starting with this crazy highlight against the Los Angeles Clippers.
On this play, Memphis Grizzlies teammate Solomon Hill caught the defense off-guard on a pump fake and drive. Hill then dished to Ja, who had his feet set for a three. Jerome Robinson jumped as Morant pulled back for a pump fake of his own. As soon as the Clippers defender was back on the ground, Morant drove and gave a shoulder nudge. Robinson toppled to his hands, crawling back to the rim try to regain balance. Ja was already centered on his stepback but took some time to stare down Jerome, just enjoying the moment. Ja then took the trey and swished the shot, right as Robinson looked back.
The sneakers Ja wore during this ankle breaker was the Nike Kobe 5 Protro. This is an updated version of the original 2009 release and features a larger Zoom Turbo in the forefoot for extra responsive steps. Cushlon foam replaces Phylon for soft comfort with added energy return.
Morant rocked the “Chaos” colorway during this crossover, which can be found HERE.
