Kawhi Leonard’s figurative rise happened to occur when he physically rose up in the 2013 NBA Finals.
During game 6 of that epic playoff series, Leonard leaked out on a rebound and was on his way to the rim. Standing in Kawhi’s way was Mike Miller who leapt for the block. The Klaw elevated while palming the ball in his right hand, while incidentally elbowing Miller with his left elbow. The uncalled foul to Miller’s face seemed to provide extra hang time, as Leonard posterized the falling Miami Heat guard.
The Air Force Max that Leonard wore during this moment originally dropped in 1993 and was notably worn by the league MVP that year in Charles Barkley. This shoe was made for a big man in the ’90s with a chunky sole and a Max Air unit in the heel.
