One of the most impressive displays of Kawhi Leonard’s “klaws” on defense happened early in the 2016-17 season.
The multiple-time Defensive Player of the Year showed up in the third quarter in a close game between Kawhi’s Spurs and the Sacramento Kings. Leonard pretty much took candy from a baby as guard Ben McLemore held the ball in front. The Klaw used both hands to snatch the ball away, racing down the court to draw an and-1 foul on McLemore. After making his free throw, Ben had the ball once more and revealed the ball for just a split second, allowing Leonard to snatch it for the second straight possession.
The sneakers Kawhi rocked for this game was the Air Jordan XXXI. This 31st sneaker in the line took elements from the Air Jordan 1, with heel panels mimicking the original Air Jordan sneaker. The midfoot and toe featured a soft Flyweave material that proved durable as well. Full-length Zoom Air and a FlightSpeed plate provided maximum bounce no matter where your foot lands.
Kawhi rocked a Klaw PE colorway in this moment, but you can find similar colorways of the Air Jordan XXXI at StockX, Flight Club, Stadium Goods, and GOAT.
