Kyrie Irving Drops 50 Points in Brooklyn Nets Debut Wearing the Nike Kyrie 5 Shoes

The 2019-20 season saw a new era for the Brooklyn Nets, with Kyrie Irving lacing up his sneakers in his hometown area.

Irving was pumped from the jump of the season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves. His first bucket as a Net saw a shake and bake move lead into a mid-range jumper. Kyrie then proceeded to slice up the Wolves defense with drives and quick threes. In the third, the Nets point guard added some razzle dazzle with a behind-the-back dime for a Joe Harris trifecta. The game eventually went to overtime, where Kyrie kept the Nets in the game with threes. Down one with the ball, Kyrie completed a street ball dribble turning his body on the ground to almost nail the game-winner. Brooklyn took the L, but Kyrie still set a record for most points in a Nets debut with the 50 piece.

The sneakers Irving wore for this game was the Nike Kyrie 5. This style features a unique Flytrap upper, a design that correlated Kyrie’s Irving to his birthplace of Australia. The shoe design was made for speed and court-feel, with a curved Air Zoom Turbo unit providing bounce in the forefoot in multiple directions.

Kyrie wore the Spongebob Squarepants Pineapple House colorway, which can be found HERE.

You can find other colorways of the Nike Kyrie 5 at StockX, Flight Club, and Stadium Goods.
