Michael Jordan put out all the stops for his last game at Madison Square Garden with the Chicago Bulls. He did just about the same for his last MSG game ever with the Wizards.
Mike’s first bucket came off a wide-open mid-range jumper. This gave him extra rhythm to continue hitting his patented shot from the middle. The 40-year old was even hustling to save balls, as the Garden usually gives Michael an extra boost of energy. On one play, Jordan attacked New York Knicks big Michael Doleac off a screen and hit an and-1 jumper that saw the NYC crowd give MJ a loud ovation. Michael scored his last 4 points at the charity stripe, with each made free throw followed by cheers. In total, MJ finished with 39 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals, 1 loss, and the respect of thousands who watched Mike’s last MSG game live.
The sneaker that MJ wore for this moment was the Air Jordan 11. This was done as a special tribute to MSG, as his game-shoes that year was the Air Jordan 17. This combines Mike’s request for a “shiny shoe” with the philosophy of a lawnmower that designer Tinker Hatfield owned to ideate the Air Jordan 11. Aside from the patent leather, the shoe features the strong and lightweight carbon fiber shank plate for added support. The shoe also featured lightweight Phylon and a full-length Air unit for a cushioned ride.
The “Cool Grey” colorway he rocked for this pass can be found HERE.
You can find other colors of the Air Jordan 11 at StockX, GOAT, Flight Club, and Stadium Goods.
