The long-standing rivalry between Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas has persisted long after both players retired. For one night though, both players put their beef aside in the 1989 All-Star Game.
Skip to the 1:02 mark in the video for this highlight. On this play, Kevin McHale threw a perfect outlet pass off a rebound to start a 3-on-0 fast break. Isiah slowed down, knowing his rival was behind him. In this instant, Thomas threw a lob off the backboard for MJ. His Airness rose up and threw a leaning right-handed jam off the alley-oop.
The sneakers Michael wore for this highlight was the Air Jordan 4. The fourth model utilized a visible Air unit in the heel for impact protection. The triangular wings near the midfoot combine with the nine-hole lace locks helped provide a tailored fit. The AJ4 features mesh on the sides and tongue for breathability, with an extra layer of plastic-covered netting to give off a premium look.
