Michael Jordan Finishes Spinning No-Look Layup Over Bill Laimbeer in the Air Jordan 4 Shoes

The Detroit Pistons were a thorn in Michael Jordan’s side early in his career. On this play though, MJ got the best of his rivals.

The moment starts with Michael reading the passing lanes, tipping the ball towards the sidelines. Mike hustles to save the ball with one hand, tipping to Chicago Bulls teammate Rory Sparrow. MJ doesn’t stop and receives an outlet pass immediately after running back in bounds. Pistons big Bill Laimbeer is the only man back, and looks to go vertical to impact Jordan’s layup. As Mike jumped though, he spun 180 degrees to the right before throwing up a shot over his head. Laimbeer then collides with Mike, prompting a whistle. The layup drifts just into the hoop, as the announcers and hometown Chi-town crowd erupt in disbelief.

The sneakers Michael wore for this highlight was the Air Jordan 4. The fourth model utilized a visible Air unit in the heel for impact protection. The triangular wings near the midfoot combine with the nine-hole lace locks helped provide a tailored fit. The AJ4 features mesh on the sides and tongue for breathability, with an extra layer of plastic-covered netting to give off a premium look.
