In his second playoff series with the rivaled Detroit Pistons, Michael Jordan showed why many were calling him the best player in NBA.
On this play, Scottie Pippen inbounded for the Chicago Bulls, getting MJ the ball with 9 seconds left. The score was 97-all, with future teammate Dennis Rodman pushing Mike all the way out near half-court. Michael used the space to build steam though, driving past the Worm. With Dennis behind Jordan, Isiah Thomas tried to slide underneath and undercut Michael but his Airness just rose up. With extra hang-time, Mike’s shot hit the backboard before slipping through the net. 3 seconds remained, but this proved the go-ahead shot that the Pistons didn’t overcome as the Bulls took game 3.
The sneakers Michael wore for this highlight was the Air Jordan 4. The fourth model utilized a visible Air unit in the heel for impact protection. The triangular wings near the midfoot combine with the nine-hole lace locks helped provide a tailored fit. The AJ4 features mesh on the sides and tongue for breathability, with an extra layer of plastic-covered netting to give off a premium look.
