A spectacular move by Michael Jordan.
One of the most iconic NBA Finals plays that kids everywhere try to imitate on the playground. This is how Michael Jordan’s mid-air hand switch shot went down.
The play occurred during game 2 of the 1991 Finals. Chicago Bulls Forward Cliff Levingston received the ball from Mike while driving to the hoop. Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson immediately got in his path, forcing Cliff to pass back out to MJ. Michael took one dribble in the paint before rising from the inner free throw line semi-circle. Mike saw Sam Perkins creeping under the rim, causing his Airness to adjust mid-air away from his dunk plans. Mike switched the ball from his right-hand to his left, kissing the ball off the left side of the backboard before dropping through the net. The hometown Chicago crowd is going wild along with Bulls big Scott Williams, whose jaw had dropped at mid-court. The GOAT announcer Marv Albert then bellowed his now-famous call. “Oh! A spectacular move by Michael Jordan!”
The Lakers took game 1 in Chicago, but this contest was a blowout. With all the confidence in the world, Mike and the Bulls finished off Los Angeles 4-1 to give Jordan his first NBA championship.
The sneakers that Michael laced up for this moment was the Air Jordan 6. This features a stylish lace lock that helps prevent the laces from coming loose. A visible Air Max unit is used in the heel for impact protection. Neoprene was added to the lower portion of the tongue to make the shoe lighter and provide a closer fit. The unique upper part of the tongue features large holes and combine with the heel tab to make it easier to slip on the shoes.
