Michael Jordan Yams on David Wingate on Dunk in the Air Jordan 3 Shoes

Before Michael Jordan’s famous dunk contest in ’88, he was slamming on folks in 1987.

This play started off with a deflection from Mike, who immediately ran towards the other end of the court. Chicago Bulls teammate Sedale Threatt collected the ball, then knew to pass to MJ. His Airness took one dribble then took off with Philadelphia 76ers wing David Wingate rushing over for the block. Michael rose up much higher and threw down a one-handed slam despite the body foul. Jordan was hyped, high-fiving every teammate in sight after the poster dunk.

The Air Jordan 3 is what Mike wore for this game. This shoe uses exotic elephant print panels to draw eyes and to appease Michael’s request for animal patterns. The Nike Air on the heel was placed to make Nike execs happy to have brand awareness, while the visible Air unit also showed how cushioned the shoe would be.

The white and Cement Grey colorway can be found HERE.
