You’ve heard of flying too close to the sun, but what about jumping too high for the backboard? Zion Williamson did just that on another legendary feat of athleticism.
Like in most games, Zion’s Duke Blue Devils were up big against the Princeton Tigers in the early part of the game. A Princeton guard wanted to change his team’s fortune by driving left to slip in a layup. Teammate Javin DeLaurier went for the block, but Zion wanted to stuff the shot himself. Somehow, someway; Williamson out-jumped DeLaurier by more than a foot and blocked the shot off the backboard. Zion was unfortunately under rim and conked his noggin on the bottom of the backboard, while still forcefully swatting the shot in the process. According to Business Insider, Zion jumped 11.3 feet measured at the peak of his extended arm. We’ll make sure to post the highlight if, no, when Zion jumps too close to the sun.
The sneaker in this highlight was the Nike Kyrie 4. This style features a soft Cushlon foam in the midsole that combines with a bouncy heel Zoom Air unit for a comfortable ride. Mesh and synthetic leathers made up the toe and heel uppers respectively. The main attraction is the traction, which rides up the midsole for secure movement from all angles.
Zion rocked a black and white colorway for this moment, which you can find at GOAT.
You can find the Nike Kyrie 4 in other colors at StockX, Flight Club, and Stadium Goods.
