Zion Williamson’s first block in the NBA was just as you expected; forceful.
On this play, Denver Nuggets Guard Malik Beasley got the first step on his defender and got enough space to launch from near the paint. Little did he know though that Zion was a few feet away sizing him up. Zion got up, with his hand reaching the top of the backboard square for the block. The rejection was so emphatic that the ball flew from near the rim to the third row near court-side. This prompted a standing ovation from the New Orleans Pelicans hometown crowd, who couldn’t believe what they just saw.
The sneakers Zion rocked for this highlight block was the Air Jordan XXXIV. The 34th jumpman sneaker features large Zoom Air units in the heel and forefoot to give Williamson even more bounce to his step. A cored out pebax plate surrounds these units for lightweight stability. The upper is composed of a lightweight mesh for breathability, with a woven layer adding much needed durability.
Zion rocked a green faux-gator colorway dubbed the “Bayou Boys” for this moment, which is available HERE.
