Before he played a single minute in the NBA as the number 1 pick of the New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Davis was hooping with the best in the world in the 2012 London Olympics.
Davis essentially played the Christian Laettner Dream Team role on the squad, being the college kid riding the bench amongst future hall-of-famers. The 19-year old was fortunate in that all-star big men like Dwight Howard and Blake Griffin bowed out and left the Olympic team due to injury. When Davis did play in garbage time, the established players wanted to get A.D. some easy buckets, like they did in the dunk package video above against Tunisia.
The shoes Davis wore for this highlight was the Nike Hyperdunk 2012. This shoe notably features exposed Flywire strands that help secure your foot to the upper. Lunarlon cushioning was used in the midsole for a soft, squishy ride.
The “Olympic” colorway he rocked during Team USA’s undefeated, gold-medal winning run can be found at StockX. Other colorways of the Nike Hyperdunk 2012 can be found HERE.
