Anthony Davis’ nose for the ball and defensive prowess were on full display in an early season 2014 game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Portland swung the ball around the half-court, trying to keep the Pelicans off balanced. Top scorer LaMarcus Aldridge ended up with the rock, as he drove left on Davis. With the Brow backpedaling, LaMarcus went up with a fading one-legged jumper. Aldridge is known for his high-arching shots, but A.D. recovered quickly and stuffs the ball.
Wesley Matthews somehow gathers the carom and tries to go up with a shot with seconds running down on the shot-clock. Davis just about tips forward but his motor allows him to recover and Anthony sends back his shot too.
The kicks Anthony Davis wore for this defensive sequence was the Nike Zoom Hyperposite 2. The big man shoe notably featured a thick “foamposite” upper with zones cut out for added breathability. The sneakers boasted a bouncy full-length Zoom Air unit for extra responsiveness.
A.D. rocked a USA PE colorway for this highlight, but you can find other colors of the Nike Zoom Hyperposite 2 at StockX.
