It’s game 5 of the first round of a bitter series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers. Rip City’s squad is up 3-1 in the series, with the lone loss featuring an intense back and forth between star guards Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard, with Russ using his “rocking the baby” gesture between words. OKC guard Dennis Schroder also used Lillard’s signature wrist-tap after sinking a shot over Damian.
The Thunder had control over the majority of the game 5 matchup, being up by as much as 15 in the quarter. On the backs of Lillard, C.J. McCollum, and a surprise bench appearance from injured Jusuf Nurkic – the Blazers charged back to tie the game at 115-115.
After a missed layup attempt by Westbrook, Lillard has the ball with time ticking down. He hardly moves from the Moda Center logo and quickly side-steps Paul George, pulling up from 37-feet that falls in the hoop as time expired. The aftermath is almost as memorable as the shot, as Lillard forgoes his Dame Time wrist tap for a hand wave at the OKC bench. Dame was ice cold throughout, even staring down the camera in the ensuing Blazers celebratory pileup.
The shoes Damian Lillard rocked for this career highlight was the adidas Dame 5. Like past Lillard signatures, the shoe boasts full-length Bounce cushioning, as well as a lightweight mesh on the upper. The eye-catcher on the shoe is the lateral “banking barriers” on the lateral side of the Dame 5, which provides support on lateral movements.
