The moment that made Jayson Tatum a household name; this highlight showed the Boston Celtics star wasn’t afraid of the big moment.
On this play, teammate Al Horford set an off-ball screen for Tatum who lost the Cleveland Cavaliers defender out of the corner. After receiving the ball, Tatum went to work driving down the middle of the lane. Jayson leapt from the inner circle near the free throw line, with LeBron James sliding by to contest. The King jumped milliseconds after Tatum and tried blocking with his right hand. Tatum was too quick though and threw down with his right hand. The poster dunk electrified the TD Garden crowd, all while keeping the Celtics close in the 4th quarter of game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The normally quiet Tatum then bumped into LeBron and talked some smack while flexing on the King.
The sneaker Tatum wore for this highlight was the Nike Kyrie 4. This style is known for it’s biting traction, as is the case for most Kyrie sneakers. The tread rides up the lateral midsole, providing a teeth design of sorts. Aside from the aesthetics, this feature helps players like Luka have more balance when performing crossovers.
The aqua blue “Power is Female” colorway Jayson rocked in this moment can be found HERE.
