Emotions were high in late January 2020 after the shocking death of Kobe Bryant. Many paid homage to the black mamba, including Joel Embiid. After missing games to injury, JoJo returned against the Golden State Warriors, swapping out his #21 uni for a #24 jersey.
In vintage Kobe fashion, Joel’s first shot was methodical with jab steps leading to a midrange jumper. Embiid would go on to score from all parts of the court including down low and three-point range. Embiid’s 24th point came off a signature Bryant move: the post-up into the fadeaway midrange. A perfect capper on the win for the Philadelphia 76ers.
The sneaker that Embiid wore for this game was the Under Armour Anatomix Spawn Low 2019. After years without a release of in the Anatomix line, the shoe returned in 2019. Micro G cushioning returns to provide impact protection, while not compromising court-feel. Mesh and plastic overlays keeps the shoe lightweight, while still being durable.
