Emotions were running high, as Kevin Durant faced the Oklahoma City crowd for the first team since joining the Golden State Warriors.
Like any spurned ex, the crowd was salty and weren’t afraid to show it. Oklahomans brought out cupcake signs aplenty, calling Durant soft for joining a 73-win squad. The boo birds were out every time the man touched the ball, but Durant stayed focused… For the most part. Despite leading most of the game, the 3rd quarter got chippy with Thunder Forward Andre Roberson fouling KD hard. Durant decided to say some words and the former teammates were soon jawing face to face, to the crowds excitement. When it was all said and done, Kevin Durant finished with a game-high 34 as much of the OKC crowd left early due to the blowout Warriors victory.
The sneakers Kevin Durant laced up for his return to OKC was the Nike KD 9. This model featured Flyknit for the first time in Durant’s sneaker line, utilizing a sock-like fit for soft comfort. The other standout feature is the flexible, full-length Zoom Air that gave the wearer a bounce to their step.
Durant rocked a black and yellow KD 9 player exclusive for this moment, which is was never released to the public
You can find other colorways of the Nike KD 9 at StockX, Flight Club, Stadium Goods, and GOAT.
