Nothing was going to stop Klay Thompson from breaking records in an October 2018 game against the Chicago Bulls.
Thompson hit his first trifecta just a few minutes in the game, stepping back in the corner for the bucket. Klay hit his third three with less then three minutes of playing time and the route was on for the Golden State Warriors. His sixth three dropped through the net with 2:23 left in the first quarter. In context, Klay was on an early season slump and had only hit five treys in the first seven games combined prior to this Bulls game.
The Warriors shooting guard eventually tied Steph Curry’s record on his 13th three with seven minutes remaining in the third. Before the record breaker, Thompson collided with teammate Damion Jones, which required two stitches to his head. To make sure the bleeding wouldn’t continue, Klay donned a thick yellow headband for his historic 14th three-pointer. #HeadbandKlay would chill from there, as the blowout meant sitting the last quarter on the bench. The damage: 52 points in 27 minutes on 14-24 shooting from downtown. Klay notched his second 50+ point game in under 30 minutes, a feat only Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum had done once each.
The sneaker Klay wore for this interesting moment was the ANTA KT 4. This featured a new cushioning system called A-Flashfoam with extra bounce similar to that of adidas Boost. This foam is allowed to expand on most of the midsole except for the lateral heel section, which is caged to support lateral movements. The premium knitted upper and solid fingerprint traction carried over from the KT 3.
The white and blue colorway isn’t currently available, but you can purchase the ANTA KT 4 at Anktshop.com.
