Not often do you see a first-team all-defense guard get toyed by a scorer. This was the case with Luka Doncic absolutely cooking Jrue Holiday.
On this play, Holiday was hounding Luka as he did with every other guard in the league. Doncic tried creating space with a shoulder jab into a step back but Jrue did not bite. From there, Doncic put on the burners on his dribble moves, first going between his leg to the right. Luka then stepped back from mid range, forcing the unbalanced Holiday to jump forward. In an instant Doncic drove forward with Jrue’s legs in quicksand, letting the Mavericks star drive past him. The moves collapsed the New Orleans Pelicans defense, allowing Maxi Kleber to get wide open for the three off a Doncic pass.
The sneakers laced up by Doncic was the Jordan Jumpman Diamond Low. As the name suggests, the shoe utilizes TPU diamond-shaped caging on the side walls. This unique pattern assists in support with minimizing the effects when the ankle rolls over. Soft Phylon combines with a forefoot Zoom Air unit for an extra bounce when running and jumping.
