The Shot 3 is the threequel that hypes up Michael Jordan fans, while simultaneously haunting Cleveland Cavaliers fans. As a rewind, Mike first sank the Cavs in 1989 HERE, then again in 1993 HERE.
This time around, Mike was playing for the Washington Wizards with his squad down 90-91 with 1.6 seconds left. Popeye Jones was the inbound man, with Cleveland switching everywhere amongst players on defense. Michael was in the paint and cut outwards to the free throw line close to the crime scene of the past two buzzer-beating shots against the Cavaliers. This time, no defender was in front of him although Andre Miller tried to swipe at the ball from behind. Jordan rose up for the mid-range jumper that went through the net as time expired. MJ had did it again, the third time on Cleveland’s home court. Mike just had his fist in the air, with teammate Richard “Rip” Hamilton mirroring the victory pose, as Jones picked up Jordan to celebrate.
The shoe Mike wore for this game was the Air Jordan 17. This sneaker paired Zoom Air in the forefoot with the new Tuned Air unit in the heel to provide different support in different areas of the heel. The traction is made to look like a golf shoe to play up Jordan’s hobby. The chrome clip on the heel provides support, while also taking inspiration from MJ’s love for Aston Martin cars.
The white and blue Wizards home colorway worn in this game can be found HERE.
You can find other colorways of the Air Jordan 17 at StockX, GOAT, Flight Club, and Stadium Goods.
