Kevin Durant and his Seattle Supersonics didn’t get many Ws early in his career, but that wasn’t from lack of effort. KD showed he could be the clutch leader the team needed, with a big shot in double overtime against the Atlanta Hawks.
With Durant’s team on the road and the score tied 123 all, inbounder Wally Szczerbiak hurled a pass to KD with 2.1 seconds left. Kevin swung under fellow rookie Al Horford’s arms and hoisted a fadeaway jumper. The shot touched two parts of the rim before falling in. Game-winner number 1 in KD’s career was completed just two weeks into his rookie season.
The Nike Air Zoom Huarache Elite II that Kevin Durant rocked this game in 2007 was really of its era. Hefty leather and nubuck draped the upper. A chunky sole (by today’s standards) featured embedded Zoom Air that added a responsive bounce to your step.
