Tragedy struck on January 26, with Kobe Bryant passing away after a helicopter crash. With the NBA mourning, Trae Young decided to do something special to honor the black mamba.
After having a hug with his mom, Trae took off his warm ups to reveal a number 8 jersey instead of his normal #11. Like every other teams that day, Trae took the 8-second backcourt violation to show love for Bryant. The Washington Wizards then took a 24-second shot clock violation to match Kobe’s second number in the league.
After this sequence, Young switched back to his #11 jersey and went to work. Trae shot with the confidence of the black mamba, knocking down threes with and-1 layups as well. Ice Trae even sank a half-court shot at the 2nd quarter buzzer before kissing his hands and pointing towards the sky.
The Atlanta Hawks were rolling the entire second half. On his 24th and final shot, Young eclipsed 45 points before pointing towards the heavens. Even more impressive was the 14 assists that came with Young’s double double.
The sneakers Trae slipped on was the adidas N3XT L3V3L. This features a laceless, compression Primeknit upper that was comfortable straight out of the box. Lightstrike foam is used in the midsole for lightweight comfort on the court and off.
Young rocked the adidas N3XT L3V3L in the cream white and blue colorway for this mamba moment.
