Zion Williamson’s Elbows Almost Hit Rim on Dunk in the Nike Adapt BB Shoes

In another case of unreal athleticism, Zion Williamson almost hurt himself dunking once more in a game against Georgia Tech.

The play was simple enough, with Duke Blue Devil teammate Cam Reddish receiving the ball way above the three point line. Zion saw his man sleeping, and immediately cut back door. The large Williamson is hard to miss, so Reddish threw the lob high… Like really high. With Zion’s ups and momentum, he grabbed the ball easily close to the top of the backboard square. Williamson was at a weird angle though and his elbows were within inches of clanging on the rim. Somehow, Zion maintained control and threw it down with two hands, with the Cameron Indoor Stadium crowd hopping in glee after the play.

The footwear Zion laced up for this game did the lacing for him. The Nike Adapt BB features a small motor that triggers the mechanical lacing whenever you slip your feet in the shoes. The default and current tightness can be adjusted using the Adapt BB App or via two buttons embedded on the midsole. For more info on how this Back To The Future-esque shoe works, check Zion’s gear in his locker profile.

The Black and Pure Platinum colorway that Zion wore for this jam can be found here.

You can find other colors of the Nike Adapt BB at StockX, Flight Club, and Stadium Goods.
